Why? Let's compare both options based on key parameters: cost, quality, performance, and hardware compatibility.
Cost: Which is actually cheaper?
At first glance, PVA seems cheaper - it's ready-to-use and doesn't require dilution. However:
- PVA contains up to 85–95% water, and dry residue - only 5–15%;
- Brikol is supplied in concentrate with 65–70% dry residue and is diluted with water directly at the production site.
Adhesive consumption and application thickness:
- PVA is applied in a thick layer (1–3 mm) to ensure adhesion;
- Brikol works effectively in thin layers – only 0.1–0.2 mm!
A thin layer = less consumption + no excess that could cause drips or defects. Bricol glue (already diluted and therefore almost as cheap as PVA) is used at least three times, and usually four to five times, less.
Finished product quality: warping or stability?
One of the main disadvantages of PVA is its high water content, which:
- Soaks paper and cardboard;
- Causes deformation (warping) of the finished product;
- Increases the risk of defects, especially when working with designer materials.
Bricol, on the contrary:
- Does not create surface tension;
- Does not deform paper;
- Provides a smooth surface even on large-format items.
This is especially important when using expensive designer paper - with Bricol you preserve its appearance and structure.
Compatibility with equipment
- PVA can be used without heat, but it dries slowly, which greatly reduces productivity.
- Bricol requires heating to 50–60°C, but sets quickly and allows for high-speed work.

- Foreign lines: Kolbus, Hörauf, CMC-Italia, Shtahl, Zechini, KEQIANG-HORDA, BRONKO and others, including Chinese production.
